What is art? We know it, and at the same time, we don't know it.
'Art and Love'... There is some kind of nucleus, undefinable in them.' (Plato, a famous philosopher of ancient Greece). One thing for sure is that art is very abstract, and we feel the aesthetic beauty in it by our heart and head. 'What is beautiful is art.' (Plato)
But still, sometimes in nature, an ugliness can be a beauty, too. Just look at those bulldogs.
But here, the question is,' Can ugly acts, like animal cruelty, or any kind of cruelty ever be beautiful? Absolutely, no way. We know there is a clear line for defining what is art and what is not.
Art must contain elements of aesthetic beauty in it. It must be free of the ugliness that the humanity hates. It must be able to spread the atmosphere and message of 'something' from the higher self of its creator.
Please look at that tree in the field afar. And that little hill. Yes, they are picturesque and beautiful. They are the art of God or nature. Look at those paintings, photos, or posters. Listen to music. How does it make you feel? What does your soul tell you?
And we love to think that art is something we do mostly “as an answering” … an answering to the call from Mother Nature. If that is true, then why does the nature call on us that way?
One thing for sure is that the ability to enjoy or create art is directly correlating to our level of being on this planet. This rings true even in the domain of the animal kingdom.
So, creation and the sense of admiration for art belong to higher beings. Those are what draw clear lines between one level of being from another. So, in a sense, our admiration of art is what makes us human. The highest beings on this earth. It is not our recently invented luxury in history. It is our identity, our soul, and our everything.
“Art is us”.
