"It is all too much ..."

The Japanese empire was a total badass monster during World War II. As a kickstarting up, it defeated the Russian Imperial Navy in the Tsushima Strait naval battle in 1905. Then, at the brink of the Great War, it joined Germany and Italy, and became an axis power. That was the planning of the three empires, to challange the British empire, the Russians and the US.Then to divide the world into zones and rule them accordingly as agreed upon between themselves.

Japan swallowed up almost the whole of East and South East Asia while Germany was making its military victories in Europe, Africa, and making its expansions eastward. The two empires had jointly made a plan for meeting up in the Middle East. So, from South East Asia, Japan needed to invade India. From there on it would spearhead toward the targeted region of Myanmar, our country, which bordered both China and India and was at that time already under the Japanese occupation and rule.

The former British colonial masters of the country were driven out by the Japanese .From Myanmar, Japan then invaded India. And the Imphal battle in India, between Japanese forces and the Allied powers was 'the Stalingrad of the Asian war theater'. The Japanese forces were stretching too thin and they were soundly defeated. That was the turning point, and the tide of the war in Asia. Germany made wrong moves in Europe. It invaded Russia and the result was ' Stalingrad'.

During their time of defeat, the native Burmese people showed empathy towards the Japanese soldiers. They helped them hide away from those Allied forces chasing after them. They gave them food and shelter. Native Burmese people in villages knew nothing of what was really up all along. Although they surely knew that the Japanese were Fascists and very cruel to the natives, this time they were the losing side and running for their lives. So they showed their humane heart to the cruel savage soldiers.

And those soldiers, getting back at their homes in Japan after the war, spread the news around about what they had (amazingly) experienced in Myanmar during the time of their defeat. What added to their story was the amazing donations of rice, from Myanmar, to the post-war Japan while they were deeply drowning in the trouble waters.

And the show of accepting the gratitude, the feelings of regret, and reciprocating that generosity have been coming back to Myanmar from Japan in unbelievable ways and magnitudes, in all its forms. For over sixty years, aide after aide, give-away always after give-away, help after help, assistance after assistances from the Asian Phoenix. All to a long- term, chronically poor, South East Asian Country, Myanmar.

Yes, the post war Asia has long been under the security arrangements of the US and, before that under the influence of 'the Japanese co-prosperity sphere concept'. Now, Asia is again becoming the centerfield of the world. Japan has been again been helping Myanmar, this time to be truly a democratic nation, to be economically vibrant, and to be free from China's bad influences as much as possible. Ah yes, Japan is there to guard the democratic values, to share economic prosperity, and to fence off things unacceptable coming to its less fortunate Asian families. And especially to us, Myanmar, Japan continues to help and show their humanity. Sometimes, it just seems, all too much.

(And recently, the UN released the news that due to the ongoing conditions in our country, about 3-4 millions of our countryfolks could be facing food problems, or even starving in the coming 2-3 months. Yesterday, online, I read the news that Japan was helping us with food donations for facing the coming problems.)
