I send all my loving kindness to you.
I grew up in a country where there have been civil wars for over 60 years and still going on.
Below are the photos that show what it is like living in a country of chronic political turmoil. To make matters worse, Covid - 19 has come back to our country. This time as the third wave.
Sometimes I wonder what life will be like living in a peaceful and developed country. We've never gotten that chance. (My four months staying in Japan as a trainee in a program twelve years ago was my only experience for that.)
Sometimes, online, I will be looking at pictures of cities of developed countries and also will be watching you tube videos like 'richest countries', 'most peaceful countries,' or 'top ten economies in 2030'. It is always so pleasant and uplifting to see them. One truth of life is that it is only when you are in trouble or when you are down and out, most of the time, will you start to think about life and think on it seriously.
I always wonder, why we poor countries are this way. There are tons of scholarly research, books, thesis, and discussions on the issue, and they all are very practical, very true, very convincing, very insightful and full of wisdoms for the way out, but, actually it is hard to change people. That is the very basic and very core of the problem.
This earth stores resources and potentials ‘more than enough’ to keep its citizens of all ages well and prosperous. It is human ignorance, unnecessary pride, extreme greed, and disunity that make people poor and suffer. That is my reflection on our case (in Myanmar). My thoughts are derived from my close-up views of my society and my experience of living in it for over 4 decades.
The basic rule is, if you are truly considerate and truly eager to make your contribution to others, those intentions are ever enough for you to prosper. That is the one very basic characteristic of well-off societies. What is lacking in the poor societies are those virtues. Yes, you can successfully lie to one another, but not to God.
In a time like this, please remember to hold on to those virtues, for they are very important in order for us to be guided by God (the law of nature), and to stay safe. What goes around comes around.
When your neighbors are touched by Covid, you are no longer safe. Here in Myanmar, many hospitals have closed due to the fact that many of our medical professionals have been taking part in the CDM (civil disobedience movement) against the Junta, which was staged in a coup in last February. Concerning personal health issues, most of us have almost nowhere to look to. That is how life is when you happen to be in a society lacking the above-mentioned virtues.
Please take us as a lesson for yourselves.
Be true to God, otherwise, ‘He’ always punishes us.
